A blog for you
Hey, I thought I would make this blog for you to keep all the links we have talked about in the one place. I will add stuff as I find it. The camera comparison and technical review site is called dpreview.com. The SLR cameras that have impressed me the most ( it is an ever and rapidly changing market ) are the Sony Alpha One ( it has been on the market for about 6 months ) - some cameras seem to have slightly different names in different markets e.g. US c/w NZ ( this is my current favourite ). This Pentax is a close second ( on the market since the middle of 2005 ). AND there seem to be a lot going for the Canon range as well - there are other Canons as well ( this one has been on the market for 6 months ). I have used Nikon film cameras for the past 10 years almost BUT for some reason I have not warmed to their digital range ... it may just be me. If you do get around to looking for a camera we can discuss some of the issues that you need to look at. OK that is enough for now.
http://www.photoforum-nz.org/
This is the NZ site we looked at. It has my stuff and the landscape images of Craig Potton among others.
Joel Peter-Witkin
This site looks interesting. This may be a bit OTT 'arty' but will give you some insight into his work. I cannot find the site we looked at last night but if you send me the link - perhaps send me all the links we found and I will include them here for future reference. BUT I don't want to load you up with too much!!
Pedro Meyer's ZoneZero

As I said Pedro Meyer writes an editorial quite regularly which is well worth reading. If you get a chance try and set aside to read them all - gosh there are 77 of them - if you take it slowly I am sure you will find them fascinating. I think Numbers 52, 58 and 72 will give you a good idea about what he is on about. There are lots of insights into current thinking about photography. BUT don't forget to look at the photographs. AND there is this as well.
The Farm Security Administration Scheme
Click on this Wikipedia Link to read about the FSA. It is one of the most famous 'photo essays' - the work of ten photographers. Perhaps the most well known being Walker Evans and Dorothea Lange. All are worth a little time to get to know their work. AND many of the actual photographs are here. Just have a dip once in a while to have a look.
